I was lucky enough to be able to meet with Greg Harden, one of three owners of The Garden Table, earlier this week. We sat and had a chat about this new Broad Ripple juice bar and eatery.

I asked about their background with food and with Broad Ripple.
I found out that Greg and Jessi both grew up here in the Broad Ripple area.
The idea for The Garden Table came about because this was the way they loved to eat. After traveling and seeing that food like this was normal other places, they wondered why this type of food wasn’t in Indy. Market testing started about 2 ½ years ago. Initially they wanted to do just juice but felt that it would be too much of a shock so they incorporate food, but their own style of food. The menu was developed from the type of food that they enjoyed. The location that had been Chelsea’s and a few small clothing shops had no kitchen, so one was added. This kitchen serves food from over 17 local purveyors that are used weekly.
I wondered what Greg thought about the direction Broad Ripple was going and this is what he had to say:
“Everything's moving off of the strip and toward the village part of Broad Ripple. Things are changing. Its going from Broad Ripple’s nothing but the ‘party, party, night life,’ to bring it back to day life, arts, food and getting the neighborhood back together. That’s what was already starting as we were coming in and we feel that we add to that as well. We try to educate as much as we can. We hold classes: essential oil classes, cooking classes, and more to come on a regular basis.”
These classes range from 6-8 people for the coconut oil class all the way up to 20-40 people for the cooking classes. Greg mentioned having dinners once a month or every 6 weeks and warned that more good things were coming! We also found out that they recently obtained their liquor and beer licence and are planning on having wine and local beer available. These new drinks won't take away from the juices though. They plan on incorporating juice in with drinks.
Stop in for one of their juices and a quick bite to eat Tuesday-Saturday 8am-3pm and Sunday from 9am-3pm
